Henry Fox Talbot - Calotype

In 1839 William Henry Fox Talbot presented a paper to the Royal Society of London describing his invention, the calotype.

This paper negative process, although producing an image inferior in quality to the daguerreotype, had the great advantage of allowing multiple copies to be made. Current film-based photography is based on the same principle.
